Looking Back: A Year of Timeless Design

Interiors at St Mary’s – 2025 Round-Up

As we approach the end of 2025, we're reflecting on another busy year of creating thoughtful, enduring interiors projects — across Shrewsbury, Shropshire, and further afield. From listed countryside homes to city apartments, our projects this year balanced craftsmanship with comfort, and colour with quiet confidence.

Below, we’ve shared some of the key themes and most-loved pieces from the studio over the past twelve months — alongside a few of the trusted makers and fabric houses we’ve worked with along the way.

Comfort You Can Sink Into

Bespoke sofas and chairs that celebrate British design — made to last, and made for living.

This year saw a continued appreciation for soft-fill, feather-cushioned seating — offering both comfort and character. Our most-loved sofa styles included the Tigerlily, Willow, Cypress, and Acacia models, each handcrafted in classic forms and tailored to our clients' spaces. For armchairs, the Camellia, Library, and Blossom remained favourites — often upholstered in richly textured fabrics that feel as good as they look.

We worked with a range of revered British fabric houses — including Linwood, Colefax and Fowler, GP & J Baker, and Zoffany — to bring depth, warmth, and layered colour into every piece.

Curtains That Do More

Layered window treatments with both purpose and style — from draught-proofing to softening modern spaces.

Whether in a Grade I listed farmhouse or a sleek urban flat, curtains and blinds have been essential to our interior schemes. This year, our made-to-measure designs balanced aesthetics with performance — using thermal linings, bump interlinings, and cased headings to help block draughts, retain warmth, and add tailored softness to rooms of every style.

From period homes in Shrewsbury to converted barns and new builds across the region, curtains offered not just decoration, but acoustic and architectural depth — particularly when paired with tonal blinds or shaped pelmets.

A Return to Pattern & Print

From wallpapers to woven textiles — characterful layers made a quiet comeback.

2025 saw a steady rise in clients seeking more expressive details in their homes — and wallpaper played a central role. Whether introducing pattern into hallways, bedrooms, or behind headboards, we worked with leading houses such as Sanderson, Harlequin, Morris & Co., and Cole & Son to bring gentle drama to walls.

Paired with colour-drenched paint schemes from Farrow & Ball and Little Greene or tactile upholstery, pattern was used thoughtfully — not to overwhelm, but to enrich.
