A 17th-Century Grade I Listed Home
Elevated Heritage, Handcrafted Comfort
Honouring original character with bespoke, liveable design
A heritage-rich countryside farmhouse, updated with deep comfort and timeless colour. We created bespoke pieces for Peter & Alexia’s 17th-century Grade I listed home, carefully balancing period character with practical, everyday warmth. The Camellia armchair and Tigerlily sofa — both available to order — were chosen for their classic silhouettes and relaxed charm.
Tailored Seating with a Textural Twist
Custom-made pieces combining classic lines with contemporary fabrics.
Each piece was handmade in our workshop — custom sofas and armchairs upholstered in Linwood’s Cosmo plain velvet, with contrast backs in Omega Prints ‘Cinnamon’ for a touch of warmth and richness. We used soft-fill feather cushions to give a relaxed, lived-in feel reminiscent of antique seating. Traditional silhouettes are softened with contemporary colour and texture, creating a look that’s both timeless and quietly layered.
Walls with Warmth and Pattern
Softly layered prints for a sense of lived-in ease
The walls were dressed in ‘Esther’ by Colefax and Fowler, a classic print chosen for its understated movement and period-appropriate charm. To help address draughts in this Grade I listed home—where no double glazing or internal doors were allowed—we also introduced a velvet curtain beneath the stairwell arch, carefully tailored with thermal interlining to insulate while adding depth and softness to the space.
Drapery That Works Hard and Looks Soft
Made to insulate, frame, and soften — without compromise
Throughout the house, curtains played a vital role in regulating temperature and retaining warmth. We used thermal lining and bump interlining for added insulation, ensuring each curtain felt as practical as it was beautiful.
One of the more technical details was the curtain for the archway leading to the stairwell, where a door couldn’t be installed. Here, we created a double-sided velvet curtain with a cased heading, designed to seal the opening completely — a soft, architectural solution that keeps the space cocooned and draught-free.
